This project consists of a new, “stand alone” nine-story research building on the campus of U of I - Chicago, that includes two sub-grade levels.

The new building is directly adjacent to other campus buildings and provides a walk through from the West side to the East side courtyard at grade level. There are connections between the adjacent building to the north and the new building through back-to-back exterior walls.

There are connections between the adjacent building to the south on the basement and first floor levels through back-to-back exterior walls.

The building is a high-rise research building. There are ten (10) floors above grade and two (2) floors below grade. The building is approximately 134 feet in height measured from mean grade to the main roof level. There is also a cooling tower that extends 40 feet above the roof surface. There are approximately 317,260 s.f. of above grade space and 49,000 s.f. of below grade space.
