The Market Common at Myrtle Beach is an urban mixed-use redevelopment of the former 113-acre United States Air Force Base site in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The innovative master plan for the site includes residential, retail, office/commercial, restaurant, and recreation facilities.
This unique project included design of structural steel “base” structures with the gravity and lateral loads of three-story, cold-formed, metal-framed residential buildings transferred at the roof levels. Design of the structures incorporated hurricane-force wind loads and high seismic loads common to the region.
