The East Bank Club in Chicago's River North neighborhood has undergone various renovations since opening its doors in 1980. Among them is a 52,000 square foot, light structural steel enclosure for a roof-level tennis facility, plus more than 15,000 square feet of additional structural steel floor framing at the second level. Two swimming pools have been added since its opening, including a 7,500 square foot indoor pool with lounge area at the ground floor, and a 2,500 square foot outdoor pool at the roof level. To accommodate renovations without disrupting club operations, the existing structure and foundations were analyzed using specific load path design for new supplemental framing.
Today, the club has more than 10,000 members, 600 employees, and numerous amenities, including a quarter-mile indoor running track, multiple courts, a 20,000 square foot cardio room, a 7,000 square foot performance center, various exercise studios, four swimming pools (two indoor, two outdoor), an indoor golf driving range and pro shop, a 60,000 square foot sun deck, and exclusive services such as a spa, daycare, dining, and catering.
