Blue Chip Casino Public Area Expansion and New Hotel

Michigan City, Indiana

Connected to the existing Blue Chip Casino, this expansion includes a new mixed-use Blue Chip building. The building features a hotel with a 10,000 gsf spa, restaurants, pavilions and convention spaces. To allow patrons to enter the hotel and casino through the same lobby, the project team designed and built a new entry canopy.

In the foundation, groups of driven steel piles support column loads. The pavilion superstructure consists of structural steel columns, which support a metal deck on steel beams. For the lateral system, we located full-height cross bracing in demising wall areas. The hotel superstructure consists of post-tensioned concrete slabs, and the lateral system uses concrete shear walls surrounding the elevator/stair core.
