FRANCES XAVIER WARDE SCHOOL
AT OLD ST. PATRICK’S CAMPUS

Chicago, Illinois

The east and west basement foundations of the existing demolished buildings were integrated with the new 52,000 s.f. 3 story school building. The construction advantage using these foundations were to avoid costly sheeting to protect the street and adjacent Annex Building. The superstructure was constructed of composite structural steel system with curved beams over the gymnasium on the 3rd floor. The new school serves 400 students, kindergarten through 4th grade. There are twenty classrooms along with a gymnasium, library, cafeteria and specialized classrooms.
